    TEAM

    RICHARD WANG

    Richard Wang joined DFJ Dragon Fund since 2011. Mr. Wang has over 18 years of business development, technical marketing and sales management in high technology space experiences. Prior to DFJ Dragon Fund, Richard served as QunZhong E-Commerce’s CEO and successfully opens up new sales channel through PC internet, mobile internet and MSO. He also develops the franchise channel for further expand the distribution network and logistic service. Prior to QunZhong E-Commerce, he also founded OLEA Network with partners from Silicon Valley. The company research and develop wireless intelligent ECG senor by using the Doppler radar principle. Richard also worked as APAC sales director and Greater China country manager for Wavesat. He managed sale and business development for WiMAX and LTE market focus on ODMs/OEMs and carriers engagement and design in Asia. Before Wavesat, Richard took several functions from technical support to business development in RF Micro Device since 2002. Richard is seasoned technical person with strong knowledge of Wireless System, RF sub-system product design and application, including GSM/GPRS/EDGE, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, WIMAX and LTE product, he has several technical papers published in IEEE journal. Mr. Wang holds MSEE from National Chiao Tung University since 1995

    YIMING HU

    Yiming Hu joined DraperDragonInnovation Fund in 2016. He is responsible for the evaluation and screening of investment opportunities in Blockchain, FinTech, AR/VR, TMT and the other industries, management and follow-up financing for the portfolio companies. He is in charge of the blockchain nodes operation and management. Yiming earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from University of California, Davis. He is also a Draper University Alumni.

    LARRY LI

    • Mr. Larry (Guangxin) Li has 20 years of experience in early-stage investments and the industrialization of scientific and technological achievements. He mainly focuses on Healthcare and TMT, and services as vice chairman of the Shanghai Venture Capital Association and China Venture Capital & Private Equity Association (CVCA). Mr. Li is a founding partner of DFJ DragonFund China, and currently manages five dollar funds and two RMB funds. He has successfully invested in MicroPort Medical (0853, HK), Kinetic Medical (300326, Chinex), iKang Healthcare (KANG, Nasdaq), Vital Therapies (VTL, Nasdaq), ACTS (Nasdaq) and others. Mr. Li worked as a partner in the Shanghai ZhangJiang Venture in 2000, founded Shanghai International VC (HK) in 2004. He was the director of Shanghai JinQiao Hi-Tech Innovation Center from 1993 to 1998. Mr. Li worked as a research fellow in the University of Michigan, got his Ph.D. degree in Applied Mechanics from Shanghai Jiaotong University.

    ANDY TANG

    Andy is a Partner at DraperDragon and Draper Associates. He has over 20 years of operating, research
    and development, investment banking and investing experience in the high-tech space. In his career he co-founded DraperDragon Fund in 2006 to focus on cross-border investing. He has seeded 10 unicorns and has led/managed healthcare and digital investments. Some notable investments he led includes 1047 Games*, VeChain*, Ledger*, Coinbase, Binance*, QTUM*, OASIS*, IOTEX*, Sheeld, Maker’s Place, Splashtop*, Yeepay, Jin Jing Electric Motors*, AltoBeam, Vicarious Artificial Intelligence*, Broadbus (MOT), ClinChoice, EDDA*, Atomwise, Verge Genomics,
    CloudMedx, and Pretty Litter. Prior to starting his own fund, Andy had various roles. He was a Partner and Member of the investment committee at ABB Technologies Ventures and Infineon Ventures. Before making Partner at ABB, he was an investment banker at Credit Suisse First Boston’s Technology Group in Palo Alto. During his time at Credit Suisse, Andy worked on the Magma IPO (SNPS) and Cyras (CIEN) acquisition. Prior to Credit Suisse, Andy was a senior engineer and marketing manager at Intel and was responsible for chip design and market enabling for Pentium and Itanium processors. Andy holds a BSEE in engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, an MSEE in engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. He was awarded the Outstanding Young Engineering Graduate by The University of Texas and
    holds one U.S. patent in silicon germanium thin film materials.
    He currently resides in Portola Valley, CA with his wife Emily and their two sons: Maxwell and Thatcher. He is an avid skier and meditation practitioner and in his spare time, he teaches finance and fundraising
    classes to students and entrepreneurs.

    MATT HUANG

    Matt Huang is a Venture Partner at Draper Dragon. He is also a Venture Partner at Outliers VC DAO, and served as a General Partner to Outliers Fund and Aranya Founders Fund, where he made investments in early stage companies in Web3, SaaS, and mobile applications. Matt’s experience spans both sides of the venture spectrum. Prior to his roles in venture capital, Matt was an entrepreneur in the cybersecurity space He later served as a corporate executive at Proofpoint, where he led Email Security and Mobile Security lines of products, growing the Targeted Attack Protection business from nascent to over $300M in annual recurring revenues. Prior to Proofpoint, Matt was a Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Armorize Technologies (acquired by Proofpoint). He led Armorize in product development, product marketing, business development, and finance. Prior to Armorize, Matt served as a Consultant for McKinsey & Company, where he advised technology clients on globalization and go-to-market strategies. Matt also served key roles at Sasson International Holdings, a corporate venture capital of Microelectronics Technology Inc. (MTI), where he developed new product roadmaps and made strategic investments in high growth internet and wireless companies. He was concurrently the Special Assistant to the Chairman of MTI Group.
    Matt holds an MBA from Stanford University and received his BBA from National Taiwan University.

    BOBBY CHAO

    Bobby Chao is a founding managing director of DFJ DragonFund I. He has broad experience in technology-focused ventures in China and internationally. His experience was honed through outstanding operational experience in the semiconductor, hardwareand software industries, where he served as both an entrepreneur and a corporate level officer. Mr. Chao was born in China and spent his professional career in the U.S. and Asia. He began his career as one of the original founders of Cadence Design Systems and was Cadence’s Vice President and GM of Asia, responsible for sales, marketing and operations in Asia and Japan. After Cadence, he founded and served as chairman and CEO of OCRON, a pioneer in the optical character recognition and document management space, until an acquisition by Umax Group. During his tenure with Umax, Mr. Chao was responsible for corporate investment and marketing. He later incubated and served as Chairman and CEO of VA Linux (LNUX). Subsequently, he was an early investor in and board member of AboveNet (ABVT), Oplink (OPLK), Omnivision (OVTI) and NetScreen (JNPR). Mr. Chao co-founded DragonVenture as Chairman in 1999 and since then he has been a dedicated venture capital investor in Greater China. Mr. Chao is currently serving as the chairman and board director of several China and U.S.-based companies. Mr. Chao was the co-founder of DFJ Dragon in 2005 and since then managed DragonFund I and II. He holds an MS in Physics and in Aeronautical Engineering from Georgia State University and Stanford University, respectively.

    JAMES CANTRE

    James R. Cantre started his crypto journey in 2013 in Shanghai, China, where he completed his postgraduate study (Fudan University). In 2016 he began his career in the blockchain industry, joining numerous teams responsible for building blockchain infrastructure. Since the ICO era James has been involved as an investor in the blockchain ecosystem and he owns the first ever themed NFT collection in the space. His current collection includes Beeple’s very first NFT (https://coinzero.art/), as well as early NFTs by renowned crypto artists like Hackatao and Alotta Money.  

    Prior to joining Draper Dragon, James founded Scarcity Labs to build upon and grow the non-fungible token ecosystem; creating platforms, communities and applications that open the utility of these technologies to new potentials. In 2021 Scarcity Labs was acquired by DraftKings where James served as Product Director.

    KAVAN CANEKERATNE

    Kavan first invested in digital assets in 2017. He is very excited about how they are enabling creators, developers, and users to capture value from the ecosystems in which they participate efficiently. He firmly believes cryptocurrencies will set the basis for a more inclusive financial system. Prior to joining DraperDragon, Kavan was an investor at Dolby Family Ventures, focused on early-stage deep tech companies. During his tenure at Dolby, he facilitated investments across many industries including Autonomous Vehicles, Battery Technology, Cybersecurity, and Quantum Computing. Kavan began his career at J.P. Morgan in the investment banking division. His team specialized in the Internet, Semiconductor, Systems, and Software industries and advised companies on M&A and equity / debt financings. He had the opportunity to work on transactions for transformational tech companies like Amazon (Debt Financing), Cloudflare (IPO), and Fiverr (Follow-on Offering). Kavan has a BA from the University of San Diego, where he majored in Finance and was a member of the school’s golf team.

    MASA YOSHIDA

    Masa is responsible for the finance/accounting team at Draper Dragon. He started his career as an auditor at Big 4 accounting firm. Prior to joining Draper Dragon, he worked as a controller at start-up company (engaged in the proprietary trading of digital assets) as well as semiconductor companies.

    FRANK MIAW

    Frank works with the operations team at Draper Dragon. He started his career as a network engineer. He was formerly a cofounder, corporate counsel and manager at several startups. Prior to that he acted as general counsel for multiple mid-sized companies where he specialized in transactions, employment and compliance.

    STEVEN PU

    Steven is a fellow at Draper Dragon. He is an undergraduate at Stanford University and an organizer at the Business Association of Stanford Entrepreneurial Students(BASES). He is also very interested in web3 and blockchain primitives. He seeks to connect with more startups and founders in this emerging field.

    ALEEHA BANERJEE

    Aleeha Banerjee is an undergraduate student at the University of Pennsylvania studying International Relations and History. She has previous experience in the non-profit, start-up, and research spaces. Currently, Aleeha is interested in web3 and blockchain, more specifically the future of cryptocurrency as it relates to global financial systems.

    MAX LEE

    Max is a fellow at Draper Dragon focused on deal sourcing in the Berkeley web3 community. A third year electrical engineering and computer science major at UC Berkeley, Max specializes in understanding startups’ use of smart contracts and cryptography. Outside of web3, Max is interested in machine learning and digital health.
